About Us
Dara Pearl of Hope Africa (Dara) is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities across
Africa. What began as a simple feeding scheme has grown into a multifaceted
organisation tackling some of the continent’s most pressing challenges from disaster preparedness and climate resilience to community upliftment, education, and inclusion.
The name “Dara” comes from the Hebrew word meaning “pearl of wisdom.” Just as a pearl is formed from something once considered valueless, we believe that with love, support, and opportunity, every individual and community can shine and realise their true potential.
Our Mission
At Dara, our mission is simple yet powerful: to bring hope, dignity, and resilience to communities in need.
Registered with the Department of Social Development, we invest our resources into community services, education, and disaster response programmes. Our focus is on:
- Empowering women, youth, and people with disabilities through training and inclusion programmes.
- Equipping communities with essential skills to prepare for and respond to natural and social disasters.
- Promoting sustainability and awareness to help people adapt to the realities of climate change.
By bridging gaps, creating opportunities, and driving long-term solutions, we ensure that no one is left behind.
